    I'll start the discussion..

    And Pacers too!
  11. I started the SoCalAMX club in 2001, admittedly at the time, to be an AMX only club. The club took off slowly at first, and gained momentum. Originally we met at a Fuddruckers Restaurant in Pasadena for the first few years, which served as our club meetings. Almost immediately other AMCs besides AMXs showed up, mostly Javelins. Then we had our first car show in 2007 and the club continued to grow. I saw a need in the early days to change our club name to be more inclusive of all AMCs, but it was too late, the name SoCalAMX stuck and its been used ever since. The topic of a name change has come up again. Being that our club is a chartered club of the national organization, AMC Rambler Club (AMCRC) it makes sense to have a club name that does not sound so exclusive, meaning AMXs only. I am looking for input on ideas for a name change, or if the name should be changed or not. There's a poll attached to this message. Make your vote heard. I wanted to add here, the choice ******** is not listed in the poll. The name is already taken by another club. There are other interesting choices in the poll that have been suggested in a previous survey. They are still up for consideration, but I'm looking for a name that includes SoCal in it, as that is the geographical area our club serves.

    Power probe-cool tool!

Okay, this power probe tool is a must have if trouble shooting electrical problems. A pair of wires feeding out of the probe go to the car battery to power it. Then touch the tip of the tool to whatever electrical part you're fixing. If the point you touch is equal to ground, the probe will light up green and beep with a certain tone. If the point is 12v, then the probe will light up red and beep another way. You can quickly go around and see what's hot and what's ground. If the point being tested in not ground or hot, then push the toggle button up or down for 12v or ground to apply 12v or ground and see if it fixes the problem. It's available at Amazon for $61 in a basic kit or deluxe kit is more.

    Detailing your car

Great tips Steve. Did you already have this typed up and copy and paste it in, or just sit down and type it in? The problem with sharing detailing tips is if the others pick up on them, they'll start winning the trophies!

    ORPHAN CAR SHOW!

    until
https://www.facebook.com/events/2139260729638695/ Come join us at the Automobile Driving Museum for our first ORPHAN CAR SHOW! Acme, Auburn, Briscoe, Bantam, Cole, and Chandler are just a few of the A B C’s of notable cars considered “orphaned” in America’s automotive history. Figures differ, but most historians agree that about 2,000 or more makes of cars and trucks flashed onto the scene, only to eclipse and fade into memory. In other words, there are far more makes of cars that had been made than are being made today, even worldwide. What you may call an “orphaned” car is up for discussion, but here we would like it to be open to interpretation and invite you to join us for a fun-filled day showcasing your automobile for hobbyists and spectators alike! 10am-2pm $15 car registration

    Mark Melvin 1968 AMX

This is my 1968 AMX. I purchased it in July 2010 at Marina Auto in Venice Beach. This pink AMX was originally ordered by Playboy Magazine, directly from the factory, painted "Playmate pink," and awarded to Playmate of the Year Angela Dorian as her grand prize. The car underwent a three year restorian that was completed in 2015. The pink AMX has traveled to car shows in Cleveland, OH, Chicago, IL, Sante Fe, NM, Las Vegas, NV, and all over California.

    Mark Melvin 1969 AMX

This red 1969 AMX is my first AMX. I bought it in the summer of 1977 after I had just graduated from high school. The AMX was spotted in a backyard from the freeway in the Pico Rivera area with a large sign over the front windshield saying FOR SALE. The purchase price was $1200 and the car was mine. This was the first car I ever bought. The car was soon after repainted red, then several years later repainted yellow. It remained yellow for 25 years or so until 2004 when it was restored and repainted back to red in time for the 2004 AMO National AMC Show in Scottsdale, AZ. The car since has had a 5-speed transmission installed and been driven to Denver twice, St. Louis, and Kenosha, WI for AMC shows.
