George Markos - 68 AMX
Oak Park, CA
The car is a white 1969 AMX automatic with a 390 Red Vinyl seats. It was a early 1969 AMX. It was made in 1968 in Kenosha. So it has combo of 68 seats style but but has the factory installed head rest/restraints. It was always white. It was bought with louvers. I believe they were dealer installed.

I bought the AMX in Long Beach in March 2004 with about 85,000 miles. I am the third or fourth owner. The first owner I am told worked at McDonald Douglas. Second owner (or wife of first owner) was a middle age woman who drove it locally to work. Third owner, bought it for his kid in Dec 2003 but he wanted a motorcycle. So it just sat on the front lawn. His loss, my gain.
I always wanted an AMX since 1975. Before going to college I sold my 1969 Orange SST Javelin to a high school gal in Woodland Hills in 1978. Never knew what happed to it. It was in cherry condition. My current AMX is a keeper.
The Plan for my AMX, which includes the help of my son Peter, is stock restoration. The current transmission is a BW M12. I had it rebuilt in May 2004. I just installed Dynomax Ultra Flows and new 2.25 pipes. I think I should have installed flow masters. Dynos are too quiet.
Next step is a tune up, replace coil, fix tach wire, maybe go electronic ignition, new shocks, restore interior, and repaint in white and red stripes. And #1, promote our club and AMC hobby.
Maybe we should think about having Edelbrock sponsor a museum for muscles cars in Los Angeles, featuring AMCs.
