Among many features of the AMX praised by the automotive press was the car's handling characteristics. AMC included a long list of performance enhancing equipment as standard. For more performance, an optional "GO" package was offered with either the 343 or 390 engine. This included even more desirable mechanical features and the over-the-top racing stripes. The AMX also had great results on race tracks including 5 wins in SCCA to take a division championship.

X-Ray of the 1968 AMX

No "X-Rated" views from Playboy magazine here, but the 1968 AMX was the "Official Car" for the Playmate-of-the-Year!

The AMX was also subject on Saint Lucia postage stamps -- Note that the 1969 model illustrated on the stamp was almost identical to the 1968.
